Start a rewarding new job in the health and social care sector. It’s a career path that will help you to make a difference to the people in your local community. In 2014, approximately 1.55 million people in the UK were employed in the care industry. Carers are working in over 50,000 settings and with an aging population, this number is only set to increase.
In recent years, there has been a focus on supported living, which encourages independence. Many elderly people prefer to stay in their own homes, creating a demand for qualified, compassionate carers. Other roles in health and social care include working in a care home, assisting families with a disabled relative and supporting individuals with learning disabilities. You could train to work in private healthcare, or for the NHS.
There are many opportunities to progress in your career. If you want to make a start in the industry or secure a more senior role, then the Health and Social Care (Adults) RQF course is ideal. This qualification offers a choice of study pathways. You can select the fast-track option, which enables you to learn in a classroom environment, followed by a placement. You’ll benefit from interacting with likeminded students and working through theory with the guidance of a tutor.
Alternatively, if you select the blended learning option, you can exchange classroom learning for flexible home study. Set your own pace and only start your placement when you’re ready. Adapt the Health and Social Care (Adults) RQF course to fit around your job and family life.
